Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the initial part of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
