Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil are two of the initial candidates under consideration to replace the former manager as manager of Wolves.

Pereira was dismissed on the weekend following the team's 10-match without a victory start to the Premier League campaign.

Furthermore both candidates - each of whom have historic links to the club - are part of the names to be considered by the Wolves leadership.

The manager is presently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a potential obstacle to his appointment at Molineux.

However the ex- Luton head coach - who played over a century of games for the club during his playing career - is said to be a strong candidate for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is said to have support from the Wolves board as they begin the search of hiring a fresh manager.

O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected contender, even though he would be a surprising appointment considering he was released by Wolves in December last year.

The ex- West Ham United midfielder is out of work which means Wolves would not be required to pay any buyout fee.
